Mia Goth Denies Viral "My Ex Is My Biggest Fan" Instagram Post Amid Shia LaBeouf Divorce
Mia Goth is setting the record straight — and it has nothing to do with her ex. The actress's representative has confirmed that a viral Instagram post appearing to show Goth throwing shade at ex-husband Shia LaBeouf did not come from her at all. In fact, Goth isn't on Instagram. Period.
The Post That Fooled Everyone
On October 8, an Instagram page titled "Mia Goth | Fan Page" — a verified account with more than 1 million followers — shared an image that appeared to show Goth taking a selfie while wearing a white T-shirt bearing the words "My ex is my biggest fan."
The post quickly went viral. Adding to the confusion, the page is followed by a string of genuine A-listers, including Elle Fanning, Dakota Fanning, RosalĂa, Dove Cameron, Rachel Sennott, Lana Del Rey, Kim Petras, and Thomasin McKenzie.
But according to Goth's representative, appearances are deceiving: "Mia Goth is not active on any social media accounts, including Instagram." The image itself also appears to be AI-generated.
Timing Fueled the Speculation
The viral post gained extra traction because of when it surfaced — just days after news broke that Goth had filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf. According to the divorce filing, Goth cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for ending the marriage, listing July 28, 2025, as the couple's official separation date.
With the divorce making headlines, fans naturally wondered whether the T-shirt message was a pointed statement about the former couple's split. The representative's statement makes it clear it was nothing of the sort.
A Warning About AI-Generated Celebrity Fakes
The incident is the latest reminder of how convincing AI-generated content — and convincing-looking fan accounts — can deceive even savvy social media users. A verified badge and celebrity followers were enough to make millions believe the post was a genuine statement from the actress.
Goth, 32, has long maintained her distance from social media, and her team has now confirmed that distance is absolute. As for the divorce, neither Goth nor LaBeouf has commented publicly beyond the filing — and fans shouldn't expect the actress to weigh in on Instagram, because she simply isn't there.
What's Next
For now, the divorce proceedings move forward privately, and the fake post stands as a cautionary tale: when a celebrity "posts" something explosive, check the source before you share. In this case, the source wasn't Mia Goth at all.
